To: All District Clerks and Lawyers Practicing in the 76th and
276th Judicial Districts
The 76th and 276th District Court calendars have been published
for the last half of 2002. Please note that these calendars initiated
a complete change from the historical docketing and procedures of
these courts. Non-jury days have been moved to Mondays and Morris
and Camp Counties have been scheduled separate non-jury days. Jury
Panels will be noticed for Tuesday of the appropriate week. Whether
this scheduling procedure is retained will depend on how well it
appears to work for this six months period .
The following rules will be in place for both courts:

1.

Non jury matters of two hours or less may be scheduled
on the calendared dates by a direct request to the appropriate
District Clerk. . . |

2.

Non jury matters of more than two hours must be
scheduled by the appropriate. |
|
3.
|
All pretrial matters in jury cases shall be presented
at docket call day of the term in which the case is to be tried. |
|
4.
|
Any pretrial matters in jury cases that for good
cause shown mot presented on docket call day shall be presented
at 9:00 a.m. on Monday of the week in which the case is set
for trial unless otherwise ordered in writing by the Court or
shall be deemed waived. |
|
5.
|
Jury selection shall began at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday
of the week in which the case is set for trial. |
|
6.
|
All parties in both civil and criminal jury cases
shall be witnesses available and be prepared to commence the
trial at 1:00 p.m. on the Tuesday of the week in which the case
is set for trial. |
